Western Speedway Hamilton the home of the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria’s 360 Sprintcar Gold Cup is ready to go for this season’s event this Saturday night, while there is a small list of sprintcar entries that will not detract from a good nights racing from the sprintcar drivers.

While the weather over the least two season have prevent the event from being completed on those occasion there are two drivers entered that have unfinished business in the 360 Gold Cup. Last season Eddie Lumbar topped the points score to give Eddie his first pole position A Main start but as the cars rolled onto the track so did mother nature to end the night, Eddie will be looking to continue where he left off at the Western Speedway venue. A recent second placing at Heartland Raceway in the 360 Allstar event should have his confidence up for this race meeting.

Now the other driver is actually the defending Gold Cup Champion, Jordyn Charge, Jordyn likes the venue and his desire is to take the Gold Cup home once more. Jordyn has the talent and the speed to take another win in the event.

While there is mix of drivers that are regular 410 sprintcar drivers there will be a couple of new faces to grace the Hamilton track for the first time in sprintcar competition, Shane Steenholdt, Brett Kuypers and Phil Micallef.

Both Phil and Brett are new this season into sprintcars ranks, Phil is a very established sedan racing and should not have too much trouble adapting to the Sprintcar while Brett will be happy to put in some good laps and gain valuable experience on the night.

Now one driver that is returning to Western Speedway Hamilton after being away from the SCCA Sprintcars for a while is Mark Noonan. Mark has raced here before but this time he will be driving his sprintcar with LS GM CT525 Create engine. These engines are proving to very popular in not only Sprintcars but many other speedway classes in the US and around Australia. Shane Steenholdt will also have one of these power plants in his machine as well.

Sam Wren is a regular open sprintcar racer as well as a winless competitor and now Sam will join the 360 Sprintcar ranks with his LS 1 motor, Phil Micallef will compete with the same type of engine.

Colac’s Kane Newcombe is a regular 360 Sprintcar competitor, Kane runs a limited programme but he has what it takes to run at the pointy end of the field.

Last weekend Troy Hose had a good night at Borderline Speedway in the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series picking up a heat win and having a good run in the B Main event. Last season Troy ran a 360 engine on many occasions in open competition and this weekend he will bolt the 360 engine back in to look for some glory.

Chris Campbell is another driver that runs with a 410 power plant in open competition then changes back to his 360 engine to compete a few times each season. Chris will be a driver to keep an eye on and should be one of the front runners.

Also on the card for the evenings racing is the big thundering late model sedans along with the Limited Sportsman and a healthy field of Winless Sprints. This should be another great evening of speedway action.

On track action will commencing at around 4pm with a few classes before the Sprintcars hit the track at around 5.15pm to commence their nights racing action.
