Anderson Dose it Again In the Eureka Sprintcar Series
Author : Ian Vale

Round ten of the Eureka Garages & Sheds Sprintcar Series last night at Heartland Raceway was an interesting night after a short delay to get the meeting underway and then later on some of the track lights went out to delay the meeting again but the end result was Grant Anderson has continued his dominance at Heartland Raceway to take yet another Eureka Series A Main event from Terry Rankin who put in the most outstanding drive of the night, home in third place was the current Eureka Garages & Sheds Series Champion Corey McCullagh.

As usual there are always a few hard luck stories on the night and this time it was three of the drivers within the top six of the points table. The first to strike trouble was Brayden Parr who had a big rollover in his first heat on lap one to finish his night’s action. Then it was for both Jordyn Charge and Chris Solomon who both had a poor night in their heat race action that would see them have to transfer to the A Main event via the B Main. With both drivers making the transfer luck still didn’t go with them in the Main event, Jordyn made contact with the turn two wall to finish his run while Chris did finish the race in last place where he just could not come to terms with his replacement chassis after destroying his primary car the week before.

South Australia’s Ryan Jones was the top points man after the qualify events to give him pole position for the Eureka Garages & Sheds A Main with Grant Anderson along side. Eighteen drivers greeted the green flag and it was Jones to win the race start, Anderson dropped into second place with Corey McCullagh, Charles Hunter, Tim Hutchins, Jackson Delemont and Mark Carlin taking the top seven places and as these drivers crossed the line to complete lap one they were pursued by Terry Rankin who was up to eight place after starting from position thirteen.

While to top four Jones, Anderson, McCullagh and Hunter were holding station a battle royal was on between Tim Hutchins, Mark Carlin, Jackson Delemont and Terry Rankin that would eventually see Rankin move into fifth place just before a red light stoppage.

The Leaders had closed on traffic and Anderson who was now up with Jones as they tried to work their way thru the traffic only for slight contact when Jones tried take evasive action not to hit a slower car, the end result was Anderson was left with no room and made slight contact with Jones while Jones also had slight contact with the slower car that would see him roll to end his night.

With the track clear the race was back underway with Anderson was in control, now Rankin was still on a mission hounding McCullagh for second place, half race distance and Rankin made the pass and set about tracking down the race leader Anderson who had a healthy lead. McCullagh now had Charles Hunter and Brett Milburn for company leaving Tim Hutchins, Grant Stansfield, Jordyn Charge and Mark Carlin duelling it out in the mid field when the caution lights came on to remove the stricken car of Jordyn Charge who hit the turn two wall to also finish a poor nights racing buy his own standards.

Anderson lead the field away once more with Rankin now in with a chance to mount a challenge for the top spot with both leaders in clear air but Anderson was just that bit too strong and opened a gap to Rankin while McCullagh was left in a lonely race of his own. Hunter and Millburn continues their race battle for fourth place that would eventually see Milburn take fourth and set sail after McCullagh.

But up front is was once again Grant Anderson to greet the chequred flag for his second Eureka Garages & Sheds Series feature race win at Heartland Raceway this season. Terry Rankin was the man of the night to take a well deserved second place while Corey McCullagh fended off Brett Milburn to take the last podium spot.

Brett Milburn finish in fourth place after a good drive from the middle of the pack and in doing so he also extended his Eureka Series points lead, home in fifth place was Charles Hunter with Tim Hutchins taking six place. Rounding out the finishers in order was Jackson Delemont, Mark Carlin, Chris Campbell, Grant Stansfield, David Donegan, Chris McInerney, Ryan Davis, Warren Ferguson and Chris Solomon.
