Avalon Raceway the next Stop for the SRA Open Sprintcar Series

The SRA Sprintcar Series ventures to the spiritual home of the iconic series when it heads to Avalon Raceway this Saturday night for round 3. Following the spectacular opening pair of rounds a familiar name has rocketed to the top of the leader board with former series champ Daniel Pestka in charge.
While Pestka and the Stark family owned and tuned S27 attempts to win their second series title in three seasons, the ever improving Bobby Daly slots his way into second ahead of round 1 winner Rusty Hickman a close third. A strong 36 cars have registered for the event and it once again is shaping to be a great night at Avalon Raceway.
The above mentioned trio will be leading the points chase on Saturday evening while round 2 winner from Warrnambool’s round last weekend has signaled his intentions to continue his winning ways. Reigning Australian Sprintcar champion Jock Goodyer ran down early pace setter Jamie Veal to record a popular win and once again will be a leading contender at Avalon Raceway this weekend.
While Goodyer’s inclusion is a big drawcard, young Tasmanian Tate Frost will also be quick to turn his fortunes around after a DNF last weekend after once again showing tremendous speed earlier in the evening.
There’s very few that will look past the reigning Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic champ Brock Hallett and that’s for a good reason. Winning the QLD/NSW state series last season, the Premier Speedway track championship and round wins in the SRA Sprintcar Series prove Hallett and his GW Racing outfit are contenders every time the truck unloads the pristine Q5.
Other exciting additions include Supercars standout Cameron Waters at the wheel of the Chief Racing V6, Grant Anderson also returns along with Queensland speedster Jy Corbet.
Quickly gaining a reputation for setting ‘quick time’, Jordyn Charge opens his domestic season at his home track following a very good tour of Darwin, Alice Springs and Toowoomba. Since returning home and preparing for the new season Charge and car owner Ken and Benisa Hutchins will be looking for a continuation of their sizzling form in recent months.
The SRA Sprintcar Series points are continuing to take shape and a three time series champ is making his move early as Brett Milburn sits top 5 and the Avalon track champion and track specialist will be keen to continue his early season form.
Other top 10 series drivers who will look to make a move higher include Mount Gambier’s Glen Sutherland along with relative Sprintcar new comer Dane Court. The G&C Forestry pilot is a star in the Super Rod division and has made a quick transition to the winged wonders.
A pair of SRA Sprintcar Series round winners from last season once again return to the action with Grant Stansfield and Will Carroll among the entrants. Carroll in particular was in winning form at Avalon Raceway in March and will look to recapture that winning form.
Australian Sprintcar royalty also returns when Robbie Farr suits up in the Victory Lane Racegear V88 in what is an added bonus for fans.
The most recent Sprintcar feature winner at Avalon Raceway is also among the entrants as Jake Smith will attempt transfer the Pro Sprintcar win from April to a strong finish Saturday night. Smith finished last season strongly when he raced to a runner up finish behind Goodyer in the Easter Sprintcar Trail at Warrnambool.
The field will also be bolstered by series regulars and series runner up Terry Rankin in the A+ Powdercoating V29 while David Aldersley and Marcus Green will be keen to accumulate more series points this Saturday night in what has been a busy start to the series.
