Can Jamie Veal make in three Eureka Garages & Sheds Feature Wins
Author : Ian Vale

The Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series is off to Premier Speedway Warrnambool for round four of the Series and this is the home turf of Jamie Veal who has already won two Eureka Series rounds this season with his second win taken at the last round conducted at Premier Speedway. This event is a little different to the normal Series rounds that will see Twin feature races on the night and the competition level has stepped up with over sixty nominations with some of the best drivers from around Australia and two Americans drivers in field as well.

What a cracker of a field, Americans Kyle Hirst and Danny Holtgraver will be up against a host of feature race winners from around the country, Robbie Farr is returning from a successful campaign in New Zealand where he won both of his feature races. Ian Madsen is fresh from a feature win at Archerfield Speedway last weekend, Steven Lines took the win in round two of the Eureka Series at Mt Gambier then add 2012 Classic winner Ian Loudoun who is stepping into the Essendon Ford V3 car, World Series and Australian Champion James McFadden plus the present Eureka Garages and Sheds Series Champion Shaun Dobson along two other past Series Champions, John Vogels and Darren Mollenoyux and it is a field with plenty of talent that any promoter would like to have as well as a spectators delight.

The quality of nomination just keeps on going, add Grant Anderson, Tim Rankin, Trevor Green the 1997 Classic Champion and winner of many Easter trail rounds then you have from South Australia Daniel Pestka, the 2014 Australia 360 Sprintcar Champion Chad Ely running with a 410ci power plant this weekend, Stephen Bell, Nick Lacey and the list goes on.

The format for this round of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Series is a little different that will see two twenty lap feature races. This round of the Eureka Series will get under way with time trials to seed the drivers into their qualifying heats. With the ten heat races over the points will then place the drivers into the main events for the night. The top twelve drivers on point head to the A Main while the next twenty eight driver on points will grid up in either the C or B Main event to try and transfer to the back of the A Main. Any driver that ties on points will be separated by their time trial times. Then it is off to the Main events for the two twenty lap A Mains, the 1st A Main will have the drivers line as per there qualifying order on the night. The second A Main will be a reverse grid of the cars that finished in the 1st A Main and any non finishers will then line up as per the order where they dropped out of the first race.

While this is going to be one tough race meeting it is very important for the drivers that have committed to racing in the entire Eureka Garages and Sheds Series to win as many points as possible on the night.

Five of the drivers in the top six of the points standing have committed to the full Series and there is only one hundred and fifty five point separating them, Brett Milburn is on top of the table with Glen Sutherland only a few points behind, Nick Lacey and Daniel Pestka sit in third and fourth places while Jamie Veal is only a few points ahead of Rod Matthews who is in sixth place. Jamie has already nominated for round five and six of the Series as well and he could head to the top of the points over the next couple of rounds with his present form making life a little tough for some of the other drivers and it may encourage him to commit to more rounds of the Series.

But let’s not forget that this race meeting will more than likely see two different feature winners as it will not be easy for any one of the drivers nominated to be an outright favourite in either of the feature races. But if a driver is to win both feature races then they will be a deserving winner and will be rewarded by taking a possible $6000 home with them.

Nearly every State and Territory from around the country is being represented this weekend at Premier Speedway with the exception of the Northern Territory but with the two Americans in the field you could not ask for a better night of entertainment.

Premier Speedway is the place to be this Saturday night for round four of the Eureka Garages and Sheds Sprintcar Series, for more information on this event go to the Premier Speedway web site www.premierspeedway.com.au
