This Saturday night the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria’s 2023-2024 Open Sprintcar Series head to Avalon Raceway for the penultimate round of the Series with a big car count of thirty four drivers already booked in the event.

There is much on the line to race for this Saturday night other than the $5000 to win.

With the top three drivers in the Series Bobby daly, Terry Rankin and rookie sensation Park Scott who are all Title contenders and will all be looking for some very valuable points on the night before heading to Premier Speedway in two weeks for the Series decider.

While Daly, Rankin and Scott will putting their best efforts on the night for good points and a possible podium placing they will be up against some very stiff competition, the likes of Brock Hallett, Brett Milburn, Tate Frost, the inform Cameron Waters, Jacob Smith, Grant Anderson, Grant Stansfield and Mathew Reed, all these drivers are more than capable of a victory on the night.

Time Trials will get the sprintcar action underway to set the grid orders for the heat races, before the Shootouts and the all important main events on the night.

Geelong racer Marcus Green had one of best nights in sprintcar competition in the last round of the Series at Heartland Raceway where a fourth place finish showed that he has the pace to be in the mix at Avalon Raceway that he could call his home track. A couple of other local drivers entered from the Geelong region are Michael Tancredi and last season’s SRA rookie of the year Jordan Rae.

Now Bobby Daly has a 262 points leader over Terry Rankin in the Series in the Title hunt but with so many points on offer over the next two rounds of the Series there is still a lot to play for and the Title is still an open affair.

Both Brody Appleby and Tim Hutchins will join Tate Frost to represent Tasmanian on the night.

A couple of Series regulars David Aldersley and David Dennison have thrown their hat into the ring once again and are looking to stay in the top ten in Series points.

Some off the other notable drivers nominated are Adam King, Ashley Cook, Kaidon Brown, Chris Solomon, Dennis Jones, Glen Sutherland and last start winner in the C&H Trucking Series Josh Buckingham.

With the calibre of the drivers nominated so far to qualify direct to the A Main event will not be an easy task for any of them but one this for sure that there will be some very hard close racing on the night.

Support on the night will come from the very entertaining V8 Dirt Modifieds.

The penultimate round of the 2023-2024 SRA Open Sprintcar Series is all set to go at Avalon Raceway Lara Saturday the 2nd of March 2024.
