Jamie Veal Keeps the Vic 410 Sprintcar Title for another Season
Author : SRA Media

It was a very hot day leading into the Sprintcar Racing Association of Victoria Inc 410 Sprintcar Title race presented by Dynolog Dynamometers at Simpson Speedway last night, but the heat was just as hot in the Mian event that was taken out by Jamie Veal to retain the Title for another season from Brett Milburn and Brenten Farrer.

While there was a low car count for the Title race the field was loaded with talent and all drivers put on a some of the best racing seen this season on a racetrack that was well prepared that allow for racing from the top of the track to the bottom all night long and without any tyre wear, a commendable effort to the venue operators and their track staff.

Eight drivers threw their hat into the ring in the pole position shootouts, top points qualifier Grant Anderson was in good form but his challengers in the shootout for pole position would come from some stiff competition. The end result after the shootout had Tate Frost in pole position from Jamie Veal, then grant Anderson, Brett Milburn, Ashley Cook and Jordan Rae.

Joining the top eight qualifiers were Jacob Smith, Andrew Hughes, Brenten Farrer, Grant Stansfield, Bobby Daly, Terry Rankin, David Dennison, John Vogels and Adam King. Tim Rankin failed to start due to a mechanical problem.

As the field rolled for the 2024 Victorian 410 Sprintcar Title start Tate frost elected to start from position two hopping to getter the better start, well history will now show that did not work, as Veal won the race start into turn one, but Frost was right with him with Milburn and Anderson in close proximity.

Veal opened a gap back to Frost in the early few laps before the caution light were on when Stansfield sup to a halt.

On the race restart Frost had found a good racing line to get onto the tail tank of Veal, going into turn three on lap nine Tate went for his first challenge on Veal for the lead but he got a bit sideway that allowed Milburn thru to second place.

Will another yellow light on to remove Tancerdi from the track the restart order for the top ten was now Veal, Milburn, Frost, Anderson, Cook, Solomon, Smith, Farrer, Rae and Rankin.
Veal lead the field away once more but Tate was on a mission and quickly regained second place from Milburn to chase down Veal once again, mid race distance and frost was putting better lap times than the race leader to poke the nose of the T62 into the race lead coming of turn two but Veal had enough moment off the turn to get the lead back going down the back straight.

While the leaders were hard at it Milburn and Anderson now had Farrer on a charge to challenge them for a shot at third place, two third race distance and Farrer was into fourth place demoting Anderson down the line.

Tate was looking strong and was in attack mode once more when the T62 rolled to a halt on lap twenty and out of the race.

Away once more and Veal was looking good but Milburn had stepped up the pace with a clear track and looked as though he may have a chance to catch Veal but that would not be the case when Veal set his best lap times of the race.

Veal went on take a clear win and his third Victorian 410 Sprintcar Title, home in second place was Brett Milburn form a fast finishing Brenten Farrer, Grant Anderson took fourth place, next home was Chris Solomon in fifth place, rounding out the finishers in order were Jacob Smith, Grant Stansfield, Bobby Daly, Andrew Hughes, John Vogels and David Dennison.

Both Grant Anderson and Brett Milburn set fastest times in their respective time trial groups.

Heat wins on the night went to Grant Anderson, Brett Milburn, Michael Tancredi and Brenten Farrer.

The next event on the SRA calendar is next weekend Saturday the 16th of March at Premier Speedway for a double dose of sprintcar action with the final round of the 2023-2024 SRA Open Sprintcar Title that will be supported by round five of the SRA C&H Trucking Pro Sprintcar Series.
